Located in the north area of Haute-Mauricie at about 200 km from urban area of La Tuque, you’ll find the Gouin Reservoir, a splendid body of water of 1789 km2. This reservoir supplies Saint-Maurice River and regulates water level of the basin it serves in order to supply hydroelectric power plants downstream the Saint-Maurice. In this treasure of Haute-Mauricie, you’ll make the greatest fishing of walleyes and pikes in Quebec, in the 26 surrounding outfitters. Gouin Reservoir also sets itself apart with the house-boats, where you’ll stay for a night or a few days. It is possible to rent them in some outfitters. In order to ensure the sustainability of fish resources and fishing success in the Gouin Reservoir, its community wildlife area makes sure the wildlife management goes well and studies the quality and quantity of yellow walleyes and northern pikes. To fish in the Gouin Reservoir, you must get a provincial fishing licence and an authorization: a licence tag is therefore mandatory.
